Creating amazing snowmobile opportunities in the heart of the Athabasca Region!
If you are a winter trail rider looking for an amazing snowmobile experience, you should know about the Athabasca River Runners Snowmobile Club.
Formed in 1992, the active club of local riders promotes the sport through annual rally events and community advocacy.
They also manage an extensive trail network, around 330kms in total, that spans the western part of Athabasca County. They clear and groom the trails, maintain staging areas and supply stops with firewood.
The organization is managed and operated by a volunteer Board and members of the Athabasca snowmobile community.

Get Out On the Trail
Athabasca River Runners manage 2 trail systems, one located west of Baptiste Lake and the other east of Athabasca, in the Jackfish Lake area. These trails run through the Northern Alberta Boreal Forest, creating a stunning setting for a world-class outdoor experience.
Members can use the trail free of charge, and non-members can pay a small fee for day use. Purchase a day pass at the Athabasca River Runners website.
You can become a member of the Athabasca River Runners and multiple other Alberta snowmobile clubs by purchasing a membership from the Alberta Snowmobile Association.

The main trail system west of Baptiste Lake has over 200 km of groomed tracks that visit various lakes and staging sites along the way. It is also part of the Trans Canada Snowmobile Trail. You can start your adventure from multiple points, the closest to Edmonton being Forfar Hall. There are 4 warm-up cabins with fire pits and tables.

The Jackfish Lake Trail system has one staging area to start your route and loop around. There are 2 warming cabins, one is close to the Athabasca River. There are approximately 40 km of trails to enjoy.
The trails are open and groomed as long as conditions allow. Contact the River Runners Club for trail conditions.
